Deadwood, SD. is an old mining town
in the Black Hills. Millions of dollars of ore have been pulled
out
of the area since the latter part of the 19th century. Today it is another
tourist town. In the winter it is too cold to have many visitors. Of course
Sturgis week brings several hundred thousand bikers to the town for a visit of
the historic place where "Wild Bill" played his last hand. The
"Dead Man's Hand" of Aces & Eights as they say. This is the main
drag through town. We arrived rather early in the morning as later in the day it
is very difficult to park even a bike.

One of the many parking
lots in
town.
Hey! Mando...Where's
my
bike?
This is the very same saloon that
"Wild Bill" Hickock (James Butler) received his fatal bullet. Inside
is
displayed the chair he was sitting in, while playing that final hand of cards. I
don't think this is "Wild Bill" but it may be his final hand!
Jerry! What are you doing here?
Back in Sturgis
In the days, this was a "Real
Ride". I rode all over the world on a 40" Triumph. First on a TR6 then,
later
on, a T120 Bonneville. I must say mine didn't look at all like this one. That
little engine had soul & a fantastic 2nd. gear.
I guess it runs!
I'd hate to be the one
to lace this.
Now
what is he doing!? Turn your back for just a minute & there he goes. As I
recall, they were comparing butts. Since I had to act as judge in this
"Butt Off", I studied the form, conformation, did a couple texture
& rebound tests on one of the contestants & claimed her to be the
winner!
A tough job but someone has to do it....Sorry Don
